dBing: Decibel Sound Meter for iPhone

dBing turns your iPhone into a sound level meter. Watch the decibel level update live on a clear gauge in dBA, see minimum, average (LEQ) and maximum readings for each session, and follow a live waveform. It is made for everyday awareness of noise at work, at home, at events and anywhere you wonder how loud it really is.

A decibel meter with the controls that matter

    Real-time decibel gauge

A smooth, easy-to-read gauge shows the current level in dBA, the A-weighted scale that follows how the ear perceives loudness.

    Min, average (LEQ) and max

Every session records the lowest, average and highest readings, so you can compare a quiet room with a loud one.

    Live waveform

See how the sound level changes over time rather than only the number at one moment.

    dBA and dBZ weighting

Switch between A-weighting (dBA) and flat Z-weighting (dBZ), and choose a fast 125 ms or slow 1 second time response.

    Built-in calibration

Adjust the calibration offset to line the readings up with a reference source for your device.

    Session history

Review past measurements, in a clean design with light, dark and system themes.

    A note on accuracy

Smartphone microphones vary by model and are not lab-grade instruments. dBing is built for everyday awareness and relative measurement, and the built-in calibration lets you align readings to a reference source. For certified or regulatory readings, use a professional sound level meter.

    Microphone and privacy

dBing needs microphone access to measure sound. According to its privacy policy, audio is processed in memory to calculate the decibel level and is not recorded or stored. Read the privacy policy for the full details.
