The best pet care reminder apps in 2026 do one of three jobs well: vaccine records, medicine doses or the daily routine. For a plan built from breed and age, look at Pawlarm or Pet Care Reminder. For vaccines, Pet Health & Vaccine Tracker or Vettie. For doses, TailCare or PetNoter. I made Pawlarm.

What should a pet reminder app do?

Ping you on the right day, and then let you tick it off. That's the core. After that, it depends on what you keep forgetting.

1. Vaccines and boosters. These come once a year or once every few years, so they're the easiest to miss. You want the due date stored, and a nudge before it.
2. Monthly doses. Flea, tick and heartworm prevention repeat every month. The American Heartworm Society recommends a year round heartworm program, even where winters are cold, so this reminder never really stops.
3. Daily care. Meals, walks and grooming. Most people don't need an app for this until there's a puppy, a kitten or a second pet.
4. More than one person. If two people feed the dog, a reminder on one phone isn't enough.

Pick the app that fixes the thing you actually forget. A vaccine vault won't help if the problem is the monthly flea tablet.

I searched Google Play for Pet Care Reminder, Pet Health & Vaccine Tracker, Vettie and TailCare, and they didn't show up for me. That doesn't prove there's no Android version.

What does each app do well?

Pawlarm: Pet Care Reminders. The app I built. You enter your dog or cat's breed and age, and it sets up meals, walks or play, training or handling, grooming, vet visits and monthly flea and heartworm reminders. Dogs get flea and tick plus heartworm, and cats get flea and parasite prevention. A puppy or kitten gets a vaccine series check in two weeks after setup, adults get a yearly checkup and vaccine review, and seniors get two checkups a year. You can tap Done or Snooze on the notification. Add a second pet and its reminder times move 15 minutes apart, so two alerts don't land at once. No account, and your data stays on your phone. App Store, Google Play or the Pawlarm page.

Pet Care Reminder: Dog & Cat. The fullest listing here. A plan from breed and age, medication courses with refill reminders, weight and body condition, a Health Passport for vaccine certificates and next dose reminders, and shared households for family or a sitter. It needs iOS 26.

Pet Health & Vaccine Tracker. Point the camera at a vaccine certificate and it reads the vaccine, date and clinic on the phone. It offers starter vaccine schedules based on AAHA, WSAVA and BSAVA guidelines, and tracks flea and tick treatments. Medication tracking and family sharing are in Pro.

Vettie: Pet Vaccine Reminder. A simple picture of each vaccine, from the day it was given to the day it's due, with a reminder the day before and on the day. It keeps everything on the phone with no sync or backup, and says so plainly.

Pet Medicine Reminder TailCare. Built for doses. Mark as Given or Snooze on the notification, an optional second reminder if a dose isn't marked, and a history of every dose. It covers rabbits, birds and horses too.

Pet Medication & Pill Reminder. The Android pick for doses. Log dose or Skip from the Today view, with a history of what was given, skipped or missed. Flea, tick and heartworm prevention are named in the listing.

PetNoter. Reminders for vaccines, boosters, flea and tick, deworming and vet visits, plus records and documents. It covers more species than most, and has an AI assistant in Pro.

11pets: Pet Care. Medication reminders, appointment scheduling, weight and vaccine records, and records you can share with your vet. On both stores.

PetDesk. Built around the places that care for your pet: appointment requests, reminders, refill requests and loyalty points. Check that your own vet's office uses it first.

Pet Vaccine Tracker: PDF. For one job: a one page vaccine proof for daycare, boarding or a sitter, made from photos of your vet's card, with optional expiry reminders.

Where do other apps beat Pawlarm?

In a few places, and I'd rather you know before you install.

• Vaccine records. Pawlarm reminds you to ask your vet. It doesn't store certificates or batch numbers. Pet Health & Vaccine Tracker, Vettie and Pet Care Reminder do.
• Proof for boarding. Pet Vaccine Tracker: PDF makes a sheet you can send to a kennel. Pawlarm can't.
• Dose history. TailCare and Pet Medication & Pill Reminder record every dose as given, skipped or missed. Pawlarm marks a task done, and that's it.
• Sharing and backup. Pawlarm keeps everything on one phone, with no sync between phones yet. Pet Care Reminder and Pet Health & Vaccine Tracker list family sharing, and TailCare syncs with iCloud.
• Other pets. Pawlarm is for dogs and cats only. TailCare and PetNoter cover rabbits, birds and more.

How I wrote this

On 25 October 2026 I searched the US App Store and Google Play for pet vaccine, medicine and care reminder apps, and read each listing in full. I didn't install or test the other apps, and I left out ratings and download counts. I asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode which apps they'd name for vaccine, flea medicine and cat care reminders, and checked search volumes in Google's Keyword Planner for the US, UK, Canada and Australia. The Pawlarm details come from the app's own code and the facts I keep on file for it.
