JAMB Past Questions Offline, With Explanations

To practise JAMB past questions offline with explanations, you need an app that stores the questions and the explanations on your phone, not on a server. Many apps say they work offline, so test any app in airplane mode before you depend on it. My app, Etest CBT, works offline, and every answer comes with an explanation.

    Key points

    • Offline means the questions, the answers and the explanations are all on your phone.
    • Test any app in airplane mode for two minutes before you trust its offline claim.
    • A good explanation tells you why the right answer is right and why your answer was wrong.
    • Etest CBT has 5,553 past questions in 11 subjects, with an explanation for every answer, and it works without data.

Why practise JAMB past questions offline?

Data costs money, and the network drops at the worst moment. If your practice stops every time the signal goes, you practise less. An offline app lets you work on the bus, during a power cut or late at night when your data bundle has run out.

There is a second reason. Airplane mode stops messages and notifications. A timed paper with no interruptions is closer to the exam than one broken up by chat.

How do I check that an app really works offline?

This takes two minutes, and I would do it with any app, mine included.

    1. Open the app once with data on, and let it finish any download it asks for.
    2. Close it completely.
    3. Switch on airplane mode and turn off Wi Fi.
    4. Open the app and start a practice set in a subject you have not opened before.
    5. Answer a few questions and open an explanation.
    6. Start a timed exam and check that the timer and calculator still work.

If any step fails, the app needs data for that part. That is fine, as long as you know before exam week.

What should an explanation tell you?

An answer key tells you the letter. An explanation should tell you more.

    • Why the correct option is correct, with the working for calculation questions.
    • Why the option you picked is wrong, or the mistake that usually leads to it.
    • Which topic the question tests, so you know what to revise.

If an app shows only the correct letter, you will learn which answer to pick for that one question, but not how to get the next one right.

What does Etest CBT do offline?

I built Etest CBT, so here is exactly what it has.

    • 5,553 JAMB past questions across 11 subjects, each with the answer and an explanation.
    • Practice for JAMB UTME, WAEC, NECO and Post UTME.
    • A study mode with instant answers and no timer.
    • Timed exams of 60 to 180 minutes, including a full JAMB mock, with an on screen calculator.
    • 209 study guides, one for each syllabus topic.
    • A study plan built from your exam date and the topics you miss most.

The app works offline, the study guides included. Practice and the first three topics of every subject are free, and Premium opens all 209 guides and the full study plan and removes ads. It is on iPhone and Android, and it is an independent app, not affiliated with JAMB.

How should I use past questions offline?

Questions without a method waste time. I wrote a full post on how to use JAMB past questions without wasting them. In short:

    • Practise by topic first, in study mode, and read every explanation.
    • Once a topic feels solid, do timed sets that mix topics.
    • Keep a list of every topic you miss and go back to its study guide.
    • Do a full timed mock once a week. My guide to taking a full JAMB mock on your phone shows how.

    Frequently asked questions

Is there a JAMB app that works offline with explanations?

Yes. Etest CBT works offline and has an explanation for every one of its 5,553 past questions. Other apps also claim offline use. Whichever you choose, run the airplane mode test above before you depend on it, because some apps need data for explanations or for timed exams.

Do I need data to download JAMB past questions?

You need data or Wi Fi to install the app. After that, an offline app should work without a connection. Etest CBT keeps its questions, explanations and study guides on your phone, so once it is installed you can practise without data.

Are JAMB past questions enough to pass?

They help a lot, but they are not the whole syllabus. Past questions show you how JAMB asks and which topics come up. Use them alongside the syllabus and a topic by topic review, and use your misses to decide what to study next.

Which exams does Etest CBT cover?

JAMB UTME, WAEC, NECO and Post UTME practice, across 11 subjects. The timed modes are built around the JAMB CBT format, and the full mock follows the UTME layout of four subjects in 2 hours.

    How I wrote this

The app details come from Etest CBT, which I built, and from its page on this site, checked on 22 October 2026. The airplane mode test and the advice on explanations are my own method, not a rule from JAMB.
