How to Take a Full JAMB Mock Exam on Your Phone

A full JAMB mock exam on your phone means four subjects in one sitting: 60 questions in Use of English and 40 in each of your other three, 180 in all, in 2 hours. Sit it in one go with a timer and a calculator, without pausing, then spend longer reviewing the result than you spent on the paper.

    Key points

    • A full mock is 180 questions in 2 hours, which is about 40 seconds a question.
    • Use your real four subjects, a quiet room and no pausing.
    • Practise with the on screen calculator, because that is how you will work in a CBT centre.
    • The value is in the review afterwards. Write down every topic you missed.
    • A practice app is not JAMB software, so treat your result as a guide, not a prediction.

What does a full JAMB mock look like?

The UTME is four subjects. Use of English is compulsory and has 60 questions. Each of your other three subjects has 40. That makes 180 questions, and you have 2 hours for all of them.

On a phone this is harder than it sounds. The screen is small, your thumb gets tired and notifications pull at you. Doing the full length a few times before the exam is the only way to learn how you hold up in the second hour.

How do I set up a full mock on my phone?

Here is how I would do it, in Etest CBT or any app with a full timed mode.

    1. Charge the phone and switch on airplane mode. Etest CBT works offline, so you lose nothing, and you stop messages from breaking your focus.
    2. Pick your four real subjects. Use of English plus the three in your JAMB combination.
    3. Choose the full JAMB mock. In Etest CBT this is 60 questions in English and 40 in each other subject, in 2 hours.
    4. Sit at a table. Not on the bed. You want the posture you will have at a CBT centre.
    5. Do not pause. If you stop for food or a call, it is no longer a full mock.
    6. Use the calculator on screen, not the one on your desk.

How should I pace the questions?

Two hours over 180 questions is 40 seconds a question. Some take ten seconds, some take two minutes, so you need a rule for the hard ones.

    • Answer what you know first.
    • Flag anything that takes longer than a minute and move on.
    • Use the question navigator near the end to go back to the flagged ones.
    • Leave nothing blank if a wrong answer costs nothing. Check the rules for your exam.

I wrote more about this in JAMB CBT time management.

What do I do after the mock?

This is where most of the gain is.

    1. Look at the result for each subject. Etest CBT shows your accuracy and a breakdown by subject.
    2. Read the explanation for every question you got wrong, and for every one you guessed.
    3. Write down the topic of each miss. Three misses in the same topic is a weak topic.
    4. Open the study guide for that topic and revise it before your next mock.
    5. Take the next full mock about a week later, and compare.

If you want to plan the weeks around this, my post on turning the JAMB syllabus into a weekly plan shows how.

Which app can I use for a full JAMB mock?

I built Etest CBT for this. It has 5,553 past questions across 11 subjects, an explanation for every answer, a full timed JAMB mock with an on screen calculator, a question navigator and flags, 209 study guides and a study plan. It works offline, on iPhone and Android. Practice and the first three topics of every subject are free, and Premium opens the rest. It is an independent app and is not affiliated with JAMB.

See Etest CBT, or get Etest CBT: JAMB Practice 2027 on the App Store or Google Play.

Whatever app you use, check that it has a timer that does not stop, all four subjects in one sitting and a calculator on screen. Without those it is practice, but not a mock.

    Frequently asked questions

How many questions are in a full JAMB mock?

    1. Use of English has 60 questions and each of your other three subjects has 40. You get 2 hours for the whole paper, so plan on about 40 seconds a question and move on from any question that holds you up for more than a minute.

Can I take a JAMB mock on my phone without data?

Yes, if the app works offline. Etest CBT works without data, so you can run a full mock in airplane mode. With any other app, test it with data switched off before you rely on it.

Is a phone mock the same as the JAMB mock at a CBT centre?

No. The JAMB mock is run by JAMB at accredited centres, on their computers. A phone mock is practice you control. It builds pacing and stamina, but it is not official, and its result does not predict your UTME score.

How often should I take a full mock?

Once a week is enough for most students, with the days between used to fix the weak topics the mock showed. In the last month you might do two a week. More mocks without review just repeat the same mistakes.

    How I wrote this

The question counts and timing for the full mock come from my app's exam setup code, which I checked on 15 October 2026. The 40 seconds is my own arithmetic. The pacing and review steps are how I would use the app, which is my opinion, not a JAMB rule.
