JAMB 2027 registration checklist: what to sort out before forms open
JAMB registration requirements to sort out before 2027 forms open: NIN, profile code, phone and email, 2026 fees, and score scams to avoid.

As of 26 October 2026, jamb.gov.ng carries no 2027 registration notice, only a test installer and manual for CBT centres. The UTME is proposed for 15 to 25 March 2027, not final. Nobody can honestly give you the 2027 registration fee, date or steps yet. This JAMB registration requirements checklist uses the 2026 cycle, labelled by year.

Key points
- No 2027 registration notice is published as of 26 October 2026. Fees and steps below come from the 2026 cycle.
- The 2027 UTME is proposed for 15 to 25 March 2027. That is a proposal, not a final date.
- Fix any NIN errors with NIMC before you generate a profile code, because the code cannot be changed afterwards.
- Your phone number and email must be ones you control. JAMB now allows one SIM swap or email change, with a fee and a court affidavit.
- Never pay anyone for a score or a "2027 price".
What should I sort out first for JAMB registration?
Your NIN. The profile code comes from it, so the NIN is where everything starts. JAMB's FAQ page, which still carries 2025 wording, tells candidates to text the word NIN, a space and the 11 digit number to 55019 or 66019.
JAMB's guidelines for 2026, reported by BusinessDay on 7 December 2025, add a warning. Once a profile code is generated it cannot be changed, and your biodata is pulled from NIMC. If your name, date of birth, gender or state of origin is wrong on your NIN record, correct it with NIMC first and confirm the change has reached your portal. Then send the text.
Save the number where you can find it.
Which phone number and email should I use?
Ones that only you control and will still have in a year. The same 2026 guidance calls your phone number and email unique identifiers that must work before you register.
This changed a little on 21 September 2026. JAMB's bulletin of that date says candidates who have lost their registered SIM or cannot recover their registered email can now update them once. You pay a fee, go to a JAMB CBT centre or state office, pass biometric verification, and upload a court affidavit. It exists for genuine losses. Using a relative's phone for convenience is a poor reason to find out how it works.
Is there an age rule for 2027?
JAMB has not said. Its FAQ page, with 2025 wording, said candidates had to be 16 by 30 September 2025 to apply. JAMB's home page says the minimum age for admission remains 16. If you are near the line, wait for the 2027 notice and read the date yourself.
How much does JAMB registration cost?
I can only give you the 2026 fees, and they are not 2027 prices. VON reported on 27 February 2026 that JAMB's approved fees were these.
- UTME without mock: 7,200 naira
- UTME with mock: 8,700 naira
- Direct Entry: 5,700 naira
For the UTME, the breakdown is 3,500 for the application, 1,000 for the reading text, 700 for the CBT centre registration service charge, 1,500 for the CBT centre UTME service charge and 500 in bank charges. That adds up to 7,200. The mock adds a 1,500 naira mock centre charge, which makes 8,700. JAMB said the fees have stayed the same since 2019.
JAMB also asked anyone charged more than the approved fees to report the centre with credible evidence. Keep the receipt and a note of what the centre told you. If someone quotes you a "2027 price" today, they are guessing.
Where do I buy the e-PIN?
Only through authorised channels. The 2026 guidelines name banks, online platforms and vendors at registration centres. The 2025 FAQ lists banks, mobile money operators, microfinance banks, switches and USSD partners. A stranger on WhatsApp selling a PIN is on neither list, and you would have nobody to complain to.
What happens on registration day?
You register at a JAMB approved CBT centre, and per the FAQ you present your profile code and e-PIN there. JAMB's 2026 guidelines add that candidates should check that their passport photograph and biometrics are captured correctly, and that a candidate with a biometric problem should go to the nearest JAMB office, since no CBT centre should register anyone forcefully.
There is one thing to watch for 2027. In its bulletin of 21 September 2026, the Registrar said JAMB is exploring ways for candidates to do significant parts of registration from home and visit centres only for biometrics and photographs. That is an intention. No procedure is published, so do not plan around it.
Read every detail on the final screen before you confirm. I do not know how corrections will work for 2027, so treat that screen as final. I have no verified list of 2027 documents to bring, and I will not invent one.
How do I avoid JAMB score scams?
Nobody can sell you a score. When JAMB released the 2026 mock results, it warned that claims to inflate scores are false and criminal. In March 2026 the Registrar also said at least 100 registrations tied to score inflation would be deleted. Do not pay for "runs" or "guaranteed" results.
Also treat any registration date on a blog, including this one, as a guess until jamb.gov.ng confirms it. For scale, Nairametrics reported on 2 March 2026 that 2,243,816 candidates had registered for the 2026 UTME. Registered does not mean sat.
What is the short version?
- Check your NIN details against your records and correct errors with NIMC.
- Choose a phone number and email you will keep.
- Set aside the 2026 fee as a rough guide, and adjust when JAMB publishes.
- Write down where and when you hear any date from JAMB.
- Wait for the official notice before you register.
Frequently asked questions
Has JAMB announced the 2027 registration date?
Not on jamb.gov.ng when I checked on 26 October 2026. The only 2027 date out is a proposed exam window of 15 to 25 March 2027, from the Federal Government's harmonised timetable, and it is not final. Any registration date you see elsewhere is a guess until JAMB posts it. I will not treat a blog or a social media post as official, and neither should you. Check jamb.gov.ng and the weekly JAMB bulletin.
Can I generate my profile code now?
I do not know. JAMB has published no 2027 steps, and I cannot confirm whether a code can be generated before registration opens. Wait for the notice, and check that your NIN details are correct first. When you do generate a code, remember that it cannot be changed afterwards.
Do I need the mock?
In 2026 the form had two options, with and without the mock, at 8,700 and 7,200 naira. The mock was optional. Whether the same choice exists for 2027 is unpublished, so do not assume it. I explain the 2026 mock in JAMB mock vs the real UTME.
What if my NIN details are wrong?
Fix them with NIMC before you generate a profile code. JAMB's 2026 guidance says the code cannot be changed once it exists. Confirm the correction shows on your portal, then generate the code. Starting with a wrong record means living with it for the whole cycle.
How I wrote this
On 15 October 2026 I read jamb.gov.ng, JAMB's FAQ page, its bulletin of 21 September 2026 and the news reports of its 2026 fees and guidelines. Every step and fee here comes from 2025 or 2026 and is labelled that way. I could not use a 2027 registration notice because none exists yet. On 26 October 2026 I checked jamb.gov.ng again and added the proposed exam window from the Federal Ministry of Education's statement of 14 October.
