JAMB 2027 Registration Date: What Is Official
JAMB has not published the 2027 registration date. See the one confirmed UTME change, what 2026 looked like, and a checklist for the wait.

The JAMB 2027 registration date has not been published. On 15 October 2026 jamb.gov.ng shows no opening date, closing date or fee for the 2027 UTME. The only confirmed change I found is a later start for the first exam session: arrive by 7:30 am, and the exam runs from 8:30 to 10:30 am.
Key points
- No 2027 registration opening date, closing date, fee or main exam date is on jamb.gov.ng as of 15 October 2026.
- Confirmed: first session arrival moves from 6:30 am to 7:30 am, with the exam from 8:30 to 10:30 am.
- JAMB has set up a committee to look at adding life skills and critical thinking to the UTME. No decision is published.
- Any exact January or April 2027 date you see on a blog is a projection from 2026, or a rumour.
What has JAMB officially announced for the 2027 UTME?
JAMB has announced one firm change and two plans. I read the Board's home page and its weekly bulletins on 15 October.
The firm change is in the bulletin of 21 September 2026, which carries a 15 September report. Candidates in the first session of the 2027 UTME should reach their CBT centre by 7:30 am instead of 6:30 am. The stated reason is the safety and logistics of very early travel. The Sun added on 14 September that the decision came out of a management retreat in Ikot Ekpene, and that the Board worried about candidates missing the exam. I found no times for the other sessions.
The first plan is a review of what the UTME tests. The 28 September bulletin says a Committee of Experts, chaired by Prof. Boniface Nworgu, was inaugurated on 16 September to develop a framework for bringing life skills and critical thinking into the exam. The Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, said the Board is considering a move away from purely subject level testing. That is a committee, not a decision.
The second plan is a different way to register. The Registrar told the bulletin the Board is exploring a process where candidates do much of the work from home and visit a centre mainly for biometrics and photographs. A state coordinator went further and said a Pre-Registration App is planned, with the Eligibility Checker built in. No procedure or date came with either statement.
What is official and what is a guess?
Only the first session times are official. Everything about the registration calendar is unpublished as of 15 October 2026.

What is the JAMB 2027 registration date?
Nobody outside JAMB knows yet. The only guide is 2026, when registration began on Monday 26 January, according to BusinessDay on 11 February 2026.
Some sites already name a day. One I opened says JAMB announced 19 January 2027. I found no such notice on jamb.gov.ng or in any bulletin, so I treat it as a rumour and do not repeat it as a date.
How many weeks do I have to prepare?
Count the days to a guessed date, turn them into weeks, and plan for the early end. This is the sum I did, and you can redo it with your own start date.
- Days from 16 October 2026 to 26 January 2027, the 2026 opening day: 102.
- Days from 16 October 2026 to 16 April 2027, the 2026 exam start: 182.
- Divide by 7. That gives 14 weeks and 4 days to a January date, and exactly 26 weeks to an April one.
- Multiply the weeks by the sessions you can really manage. Four sessions a week over 26 weeks is 104 sessions.
These are my arithmetic from the 2026 pattern, not announcements. Use the smaller number to plan and treat any extra weeks as a gift.
What did JAMB 2026 registration look like?
In 2026 JAMB opened registration on 26 January and kept saying it would not extend its February deadline. The later timeline gets muddy, so here is what each source says.
- Opening: Monday 26 January 2026. BusinessDay says JAMB planned five weeks.
- Deadline: Vanguard reported on 18 February that ePIN sales would close on 26 February and centre registration on 28 February. Over 1.5 million candidates had registered by 17 February.
- Later: Nairametrics reported 2,243,816 registered on 2 March and called 26 March the final deadline. That does not match the February dates, and I could not find a JAMB notice that explains it.
- Exam: 16 to 25 April 2026, per Nairametrics and Legit.ng.
A deadline JAMB calls final can still be reported differently by the press, so I would not leave registration to the last week.
Is registered the same as sat?
No. Registered, sat and result released are three different numbers, and news stories sometimes swap them.
Nairametrics gave 2,243,816 registered on 2 March. Legit.ng gave 2,243,761 on 26 April and said JAMB's bulletin showed results released for 1,897,692 candidates. The gap is about 346,000. I don't know the reason. Results can be released in batches, so I won't call that gap the number who did not sit.
How do I track official JAMB notices?
Use jamb.gov.ng and its weekly bulletin, and treat everything else as a rumour until you find the same notice there. Never pay anyone for a date.
Check on one fixed day a week, say Sunday evening, so you are not refreshing in a panic. Write the date you checked beside any date you note down.
What should I do before registration opens?
Prepare what does not depend on a date. This is the checklist I would keep on my phone.
- Choose your course and two backup courses.
- Look up the UTME subjects each course asks for.
- Find out whether you have a National Identification Number, called a NIN, and where it is written down.
- Make sure the phone number and email you will use are ones you control.
- Start a weekly study routine now, even a small one.
- Set a weekly reminder to read the JAMB bulletin.
For practice while you wait, I built Etest JAMB CBT, with 5,553 past questions across 11 subjects and timed exams from 60 to 180 minutes. It is a practice tool and says nothing about your score on the day. I also compared apps in my post on JAMB CBT apps for 2027 and reviewed an older one in the JAMB CBT exam guide app review.
Frequently asked questions
When does JAMB 2027 registration start?
JAMB has not announced it. In 2026 registration began on 26 January, so late January 2027 is possible, but that is a pattern and not a notice. Read jamb.gov.ng and the weekly bulletin for the real date, and ignore any flyer that names a day without linking to JAMB.
Is the 7:30 am arrival time confirmed?
Yes, for the first session of the 2027 UTME. It is in JAMB's bulletin of 21 September 2026, and the exam in that session runs from 8:30 to 10:30 am. I found no times for later sessions, so wait for your slip to see which session you are placed in.
Will the 2027 UTME format change?
I don't know. JAMB set up a committee on 16 September 2026 to look at bringing life skills and critical thinking into the UTME, and the Registrar said the Board is considering it. No decision has been published, so prepare for the subject based format and read every notice.
Should I wait for registration before I start studying?
No. Registration decides whether you sit, not what you know. The dates may change, but the topics you will have to revise do not depend on them, so a routine started tonight helps whichever date JAMB announces. Even three short sessions a week will put you ahead of the candidate who waits for the notice.
How I wrote this
I read JAMB's home page and its bulletins of 21 and 28 September 2026 on 15 October 2026, and checked the 2026 figures against BusinessDay, Vanguard, Nairametrics and Legit.ng. The bulletin dated 5 October did not load for me, so the 28 September one is the latest I read. The 2027 dates in the guess rows are my own arithmetic from the 2026 pattern. I will update this post when JAMB publishes the real dates.
If you want something to practise with while you wait, Etest JAMB CBT is on the App Store and Google Play. The first three topics in every subject are free, so try those before paying for anything.
