Soft drink prices in Nigeria, checked online on 24 October 2026: a 50cl Coke was ₦490 at Supermart.ng in Lagos and about ₦646 a bottle in a 24 pack on Jumia. A 33cl Malta Guinness can was ₦695. At ₦490, one bottle a day comes to ₦178,850 a year, and three a day passes half a million.

    Key points

    • On Supermart.ng, 35cl PET Coke, Fanta and Sprite were ₦330 each and 50cl PET bottles were ₦490 each.
    • Cans cost more per drink: ₦540 to ₦600 for cola, Fanta and 7 Up, and ₦690 to ₦695 for malt.
    • Energy drinks ranged from ₦920 for a 50cl Fearless to ₦1,700 for a 250ml Red Bull.
    • At ₦490 a bottle, one 50cl soft drink a day is ₦178,850 a year. Two is ₦357,700. Three is ₦536,550.
    • The sugary drink tax is still ₦10 per litre. The Senate passed a change in June 2026, but as of late September it was not law.
    • Shelf prices vary by shop and city, so treat these as a dated reference, not the price at your corner shop.

Where did these prices come from?

All prices were read online on Saturday 24 October 2026, from each product page on Supermart.ng and Jumia Nigeria. Supermart.ng delivers in Lagos. A kiosk in Aba or a supermarket in Abuja may charge more or less, and prices move often, so check your own receipt before you do the sums.

I also tried Ebeano, Spar Nigeria and Konga. I could not read product prices on their sites that day, so I left them out rather than guess. Where a product had no single item listing, it is not in the table either. You won't find a Pepsi 50cl price here, for example, because the only Pepsi bottle listing was a 12 pack of 60cl.

Honestly, this is the part most pages skip. When I searched "price of Coke in Nigeria", the top results had no date and no shop named.

How much is Coke, Fanta, Sprite and Pepsi in Nigeria?

Bottles were cheaper per drink than cans. Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite in 35cl PET bottles were ₦330 each on Supermart.ng, and in 50cl PET bottles ₦490 each. A 33cl can of Coke was ₦550. A Pepsi can was ₦510 on sale, down from ₦585.

    Coca-Cola 33cl can, pack of 6 ₦3,240, so ₦540 each Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026

    7 Up 33cl can ₦600 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026

Notice the Jumia pack works out dearer per bottle than a single bottle on Supermart.ng. Buying in bulk is not always the saving it looks like, so divide the pack price by the count before you buy.

How much are Maltina, Malta Guinness and Amstel Malta?

Malt drinks cost more than cola. A 33cl can of Malta Guinness, Amstel Malta or Maltina Classic was ₦690 to ₦695 on Supermart.ng. The lowest malt price per drink in this check was Malta Guinness in a 24 can pack on Jumia, at about ₦583 a can.

    Malta Guinness 33cl can ₦695 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026
Malta Guinness 33cl can, pack of 24 ₦13,999, so about ₦583 each Jumia 24 Oct 2026

    Maltina Classic 33cl PET, pack of 12 ₦7,500, so ₦625 each Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026

Lots of people treat malt as the healthier choice. It is still a sweet drink, and it is the priciest habit in this group short of energy drinks.

How much do energy drinks cost in Nigeria?

Energy drinks are the most expensive habit here by far. On Supermart.ng a 50cl Fearless Classic was ₦920, a 40cl Monster was ₦1,100, a 35.5cl Power Horse was ₦1,400 and a 25cl Red Bull was ₦1,700.

    Drink Size Price Retailer Checked
    Fearless Classic 50cl ₦920 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026
    Monster Energy, green 40cl ₦1,100 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026
    Power Horse 35.5cl ₦1,400 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026
    Red Bull 25cl ₦1,700 Supermart.ng 24 Oct 2026

Red Bull costs more than three 50cl Cokes, and the can is half the size.

What does a soft drink habit cost in a year?

Multiply the price by how many you drink a day, then by 365. At the Supermart.ng prices above, one 50cl Coke a day costs ₦178,850 a year. A daily Malta Guinness can costs ₦253,675. A daily Red Bull costs ₦620,500.

Drink and price 1 a day, per year 2 a day, per year 3 a day, per year
    Coke 35cl PET at ₦330 ₦120,450 ₦240,900 ₦361,350
    Coke 50cl PET at ₦490 ₦178,850 ₦357,700 ₦536,550
    Coke 33cl can at ₦550 ₦200,750 ₦401,500 ₦602,250
    Malta Guinness 33cl can at ₦695 ₦253,675 ₦507,350 ₦761,025
    Fearless 50cl at ₦920 ₦335,800 ₦671,600 ₦1,007,400
    Monster 40cl at ₦1,100 ₦401,500 ₦803,000 ₦1,204,500
    Red Bull 25cl at ₦1,700 ₦620,500 ₦1,241,000 ₦1,861,500

To do your own: price × drinks a day × 7 gives your week, × 30 gives your month and × 365 gives your year. A 50cl bottle at ₦490 is ₦3,430 a week and ₦14,700 a month. Two cans of Monster a day for a year cost ₦803,000.

That last number stopped me for a second.

Is the sugar tax going up?

Not yet. Manufacturers and importers still pay an excise of ₦10 per litre on sugar sweetened drinks. On 4 June 2026 the Senate passed an amendment to the Customs, Excise Tariff, Etc. Act that would replace the flat ₦10 with a duty tied to retail price, with the rate set by the Minister of Finance. Nairametrics reported on 22 September 2026 that it had gone to the House of Representatives and had not been enacted into law.

I could not find a later report that the House had passed it. If it becomes law, expect shelf prices of sugary drinks to rise, though nobody can say by how much until the minister sets the rate. Nairametrics also reported that a bottle which sold for about ₦150 when the ₦10 levy started now sells for ₦350 to ₦500, which is roughly what the 35cl and 50cl bottles above cost.

My view: the old flat levy has been eaten by inflation, so some change makes sense. But price alone rarely breaks a daily habit. Seeing the yearly total does more.

How can I keep track of what I save?

Write down what you pay, not what a website says. Then count every day you skip it. The total grows faster than you expect, and it is a better reason to keep going than any health warning.

That is why I built FizzFree. It counts your savings and the sugar, caffeine and calories you skipped, with a streak and a craving SOS timer for the bad moments. You can quit at once or cut down with reduce mode. There is no account, the tracker is free with ads, and Premium is optional. It is on iPhone and Android.

For the health side, read how much sugar is in a can of soda. For the weight question, I worked through whether you lose weight when you stop drinking soda. And if you are choosing a tracker, see quit soda apps compared.

    How I wrote this

On 24 October 2026 I opened each product page on Supermart.ng and Jumia Nigeria and read the price in the page itself, noting sale prices where the page showed a list price too. Ebeano, Spar Nigeria and Konga did not show readable prices online that day, so they are not included. I did not check any physical shop. The tax section uses two Nairametrics reports from June and September 2026. The yearly figures are my own multiplication, checked twice.
