ExtraHalf Privacy Policy

    Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy covers the ExtraHalf app on iPhone, iPad and Android. It says what the app does with your information, who else touches any of it, and what you can ask us to do. The short version comes first. The detail follows.

    1. Who is responsible for your data

ExtraHalf is made by John Osakwe (Etest), Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. For the small amount of personal data described below, that's the data controller.

Questions about privacy, or a request to use your rights: info@etestweb.com

    2. The short version

    • There's no account and no sign-up. The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number or Social Security number.
    • What you log stays on your phone. Your tax profile, jobs, shifts, tips, pay stubs and W-2 amounts live in the app's private storage. We don't receive them and can't see them.
    • ExtraHalf has no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
    • When you subscribe, Apple or Google takes the payment and a service called RevenueCat checks that the purchase is valid.
    • We don't sell your personal information.

    3. What stays on your device

Everything you type into ExtraHalf is saved in the app's private storage on your phone:

    • your tax profile: filing status, an estimate of your income for the year, and, if you're married filing jointly, your spouse's qualified overtime and tips
    • your jobs, pay rates and how overtime is paid at each one
    • shifts, hours, tips and pay stub amounts
    • W-2 amounts you enter to cross-check your employer's figures
    • your reminder settings

A note on Social Security numbers, because it matters here. The deduction depends on whether you have an SSN that's valid for work, so setup asks one yes-or-no question. The app saves your answer. It never asks for the number itself.

    • Reports and exports. The PDF and CSV are built on your phone and handed to your phone's share sheet. You choose where they go (Files, iCloud Drive, email, a printer). We never get a copy.
    • Reminders. The weekly reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone. There's no notification server.
    • Phone backups. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include the app's data. That's governed by Apple's or Google's terms, not ours.
    • Deleting it. Settings → Delete all data removes everything you've entered. Uninstalling the app does the same.

    4. Who else is involved

    Apple and Google (payments)

Subscriptions are sold through the App Store or Google Play. They process your payment under their own terms and privacy policies, and we never see your card or billing details.

    RevenueCat (checking your purchase)

To confirm your subscription, and to bring it back if you reinstall or change phones, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) as a processor working for us. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID created on your phone, your purchase and subscription history for ExtraHalf (product, dates, trial and renewal status, and the receipt or purchase token from Apple or Google), and basic device and app details such as the operating system, app version, country and IP address. It does not receive anything you log in the app. Its policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

    The rating prompt

After you've had a useful result, the app may ask you to rate it using Apple's or Google's own prompt. ExtraHalf doesn't see what you answer.

    Nobody else

There are no advertising networks, analytics tools, crash reporters or social media SDKs inside ExtraHalf. Apple and Google may give us anonymous, aggregated numbers (downloads, crash rates) under their own policies.

    5. Your rights and our legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR / UK GDPR applies to you. The same rights are available to people in Nigeria under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and in other places with similar laws.

    Who is the data controller

John Osakwe (Etest) is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: info@etestweb.com

Why we process data, and our legal basis

    PurposeDataLegal basis (GDPR Art. 6)
Providing your subscription and restoring your purchasesApp user ID, purchase and subscription history, basic device and app information (held by RevenueCat)Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Answering your emailsYour email address and what you wroteLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

    International transfers

RevenueCat is based in the United States, so purchase data can be processed outside your own country. For data coming from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, RevenueCat relies on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Your logged tax data doesn't travel anywhere. It stays on your phone.

    Your rights

    You have the right to:

    • access the personal data we hold about you
    • have it corrected
    • have it deleted (the "right to be forgotten")
    • restrict or object to its processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
    • receive it in a portable format
    • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before you withdrew it
    • complain to a data protection authority, such as the one in your country (in the UK, the ICO; in Nigeria, the NDPC)

Most of what ExtraHalf handles never reaches us. It sits on your phone, so we can't look it up, correct it or export it for you. You can do all three yourself: edit entries in the app, export a report from the Report tab, or remove everything with Settings → Delete all data.

To use any of these rights, email info@etestweb.com. We will respond within one month.

No automated decisions. The deduction figures are worked out on your phone with fixed tax rules. There's no profiling, and nothing is decided about you automatically in a way that has legal effect.

Because there are no accounts, we can't tie data to you by name. For a request about purchase data, write to us from the email address on your App Store or Google Play receipt, or include the order ID. Requests about card or billing details go to Apple or Google, who hold them.

    6. How long we keep data

    • Data on your phone: until you delete it in the app or uninstall.
    • Purchase records at RevenueCat: as long as needed to provide your purchases and meet legal and tax obligations, then deleted under RevenueCat's retention policy.
    • Emails to us: up to two years after the conversation ends.

    7. US residents

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of. If you're in a US state with a privacy law (California, for example) you can still ask what we hold or ask us to delete it, at info@etestweb.com. For most people the honest answer will be "almost nothing".

    8. Children

ExtraHalf is for adults who earn wages or tips and file taxes. It isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child's information reached us, email us and we'll delete it.

    9. Security

Your logged data stays in the app's private storage on your phone, protected by your phone's own lock and encryption. ExtraHalf doesn't add a passcode of its own, so a screen lock on your phone is worth having. Traffic between the app and RevenueCat is encrypted in transit.

    10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For a significant change we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
