ExtraHalf Terms of Use

    Last updated: 6 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and John Osakwe (Etest) ("we", "us") for the ExtraHalf app on iPhone, iPad and Android. By downloading or using ExtraHalf you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app.

    1. Estimates, not tax advice

ExtraHalf estimates two federal tax deductions for tax years 2025 to 2028: qualified overtime compensation (IRC §225) and qualified tips (IRC §224). It works from what you enter and from how your employer pays you.

Treat the results as a well-informed starting point, not as tax, legal or financial advice. Tax law and IRS guidance change, and your own situation can have details the app can't see. Check the figures against your pay stubs and Form W-2, and ask a qualified tax professional if you're unsure. You're responsible for your tax return, including anything you claim on it.

    • The estimates cover federal income tax only. Social Security, Medicare and most state taxes still apply to this pay.
    • ExtraHalf isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, the IRS or any government agency.

    2. Who can use ExtraHalf

ExtraHalf is for adults (18 or older) who earn wages or tips and file US federal taxes. The app is available worldwide, but it works out US federal income tax only. You're responsible for making sure using it is lawful where you live.

    3. A subscription is required

ExtraHalf is free to download, but using it needs a subscription. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial and include everything: unlimited jobs and history, the tip log, the tax savings estimate, the 2025 check, W-4 help, PDF export and reminders. Features can change over time.

    4. Subscriptions and purchases

    PlanPrice (US)Billing
    Yearly (14-day free trial)$14.99every year
    Monthly (14-day free trial)$1.99every month

These are US prices. Apple and Google convert them for other countries and add local taxes, so the price shown on the purchase screen is the one that applies.

    • Payment. It's charged to your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
    • Automatic renewal. Yearly and monthly plans renew on their own, at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The renewal charge happens within 24 hours before the period ends.
    • Free trial. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it turns into a paid subscription at the price shown. Any unused part of a trial is lost if you buy a subscription before it ends. Apple and Google decide whether you're still eligible for a trial.
    • Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. In the app, Settings → Manage subscription opens the right page. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription.
    • Refunds. Apple and Google handle them under their own policies. We can't issue refunds ourselves, because we never receive your payment.
    • New phone or reinstall. On the first screen or in Settings, tap Restore purchases to bring your subscription back.

    5. Your data and backups

What you log stays on your phone, as the privacy policy explains. That's good for privacy and a little risky for memory: if your phone is lost or the app is deleted, we can't get your entries back. Export a year-end report now and then to keep a copy. "Delete all data" in Settings can't be undone.

    6. Using the app properly

Please don't copy, reverse engineer or resell the app, try to get around the purchase system, or use ExtraHalf for anything unlawful.

    7. Ownership and licence

We own ExtraHalf and its design, code and content. You own what you enter. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices under these terms. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's standard end user licence agreement also applies. Apple isn't responsible for the app or for supporting it. Questions and claims about ExtraHalf come to us.

    8. Third-party services

Purchases run through Apple or Google, and RevenueCat checks them for us. Their own terms apply to what they do.

    9. No guarantees, and limits on liability

ExtraHalf is provided "as is". We work hard to get the rules right, but we can't promise the estimates are error-free or suit your situation. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for tax, interest, penalties or other losses that come from relying on the estimates, and our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't legally be excluded.

    10. Changes and ending

We may update the app and these terms. If we change the terms, we'll update the date at the top, and using the app after that means you accept the new version. You can stop using ExtraHalf at any time. We may suspend access if someone misuses the app or the purchase system.

    11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Disputes go to the courts of Nigeria, unless your local law lets you bring a claim in your home courts.
